I am so grumpy with Nationwide!
We are in the process of buying a house and they are delaying us.
Our mortgage was slightly complicated by the fact that we were in the middle of a re-mortgage to fix in for 5 years when we decided and, subsequently quickly sold and found a new property we wanted. As a result we needed the re-mortgage to go through before we get our mortgage offer for the new house (obviously our timing here wasn't great but the process had started some time before we decided to move). We had our MIP though and this was fine.... to begin with.
Basically we sold our house on the 20th June. Had our offer accepted on the property we wanted on the 21st.
Solicitors set in motion all round.
The Nationwide remortgage was still going through... in fact it was taking its lengthy time with the solicitors that they instruct and this delayed us for quite some time. I was not impressed with them.
FINALLY the week of the 7th July the remortgage was settled and we were finally with Nationwide on our fixed term. This meant we could apply for our mortgage on the new property, which we did asap through our advisor.
What I want to know is, does it normally take this long? The application was completed 2 weeks ago. Nationwide have still not sent a valuer/surveyor to the house. My concern is that the vendors of the house we're buying (and the EA) will think we are not viable buyers simply as we are the only ones in the chain without a valid mortgage offer yet and this does not look good! There is no problem getting the mortgage it's the issue that it's taking so long! We just need the valuer to go to the property so that we can move things along.
Maybe I was naive but I had thought mortgage offers and surveyors happened pretty quickly. We accepted our buyers offer on Friday the 20th June and their surveyor was in our house on the following Tues 24th June. I assumed it would be the same for us.
Any other experiences with Nationwide? Are they slow?

Mmmmm....... I was considering Nationwide as their lending multiples seemed preferable. But I too need to move fast so this concerns me.0

I made my full application on a Thursday, they surveyed the following Friday. This was slightly longer than the mortgage advisor predicted.
If you bank with Nationwide, have you logged on to have a look at when they requested the survey? Sometimes the holdup is the EA arranging access.Fashion on the Ration
2024 - 43/66 coupons used, carry forward 23

We don't bank with Nationwide so we can't log on
We have asked our FA who just keeps saying it'll be in the next day or two... and still nothing and nothing... It's infuriating and we feel quite helpless... We just want to move!

Mine was carried out 5 working days after application. They never told me when it was scheduled for, the first I knew was when they told me they'd accepted the valuation report. My offer came 5 seconds later.
Don't forget that the valuation is carried out by a third party, so it's not within Nationwide's control, though they should be chasing it. Has your advisor actually spoken to Nationwide about it, or are they just fobbing you off?0
