miscalculation of early repayment fees?

Was very excited earlier, well hopefully clear the ERC In 4 months, will give them another call in a minute, hopefully have this paid by xmas

Phoned up 4 times on Friday, told my balance was xxx.xx with a fee of £136.xx for an early repayment fee, so they gave me a redemption fee including this amount, so I paid in and called the Halifax to tell them, a nice lady said that this would redeem the mortgage, she assured me that this 100% the case, then yesterday morning she called and said the money was received and that it turns out I have overpaid by £142 and that they would now issue a refund and as soon as that was done they could close my mortgage account. I'm really confused now!

Well for whatever reason, the bank never applied the ERC and have told me that the mortgage has been redeemed, can't figure out why, but not going to argue the matter.
