I have had similar calf pains which became severe enough that I had to rest from running for a while and even limp while walking for a few days afterwards. I have also been told by a physio that I have slightly flat feet.
After about a week or so I began running again and noticed the pain had reduced and with subsequent runs the problem vanished altogether.
This has maybe happened a couple of times since I started jogging nearly 15 years ago so I am not so sure that flat feet is always the cause given that I made no effort to accommodate it and still can run freely. I do believe that there must have been many ocasions where people have been premature and gone out and bought expensive gear unnecessarily when the problem may have gone away on it's own.

Don't injure yourself. You'll be out of action for far longer if you get injured than if you take a few days off now. Just do a bit of cross training like swimming or cycling with some yoga if you can.

After years of spending up to a couple of months injured from running every year, during the last injury a couple of years ago, I cycled to maintain my fitness, then one day I timed myself and that was it, all of a sudden cycling became more than just something to do when I couldn't run. Recently I have just started swimming, historically I have always been an exceptionally poor swimmer but have now managed to improve my technique enough to me to tackle a triathlon (still a long way to go with my swimming, but I'm enjoying the challenge). Since switching from running 3-5 times a week to a combination of 2-3 swims, 2-3 cycles and 2-3 runs per week, I feel much fitter now and I don't suffer injuries.
