Sainsburys amended order

Hi, never ordered groceries online before but decided to, with £15 off from Sainsburys. Anyway, I finished the order and gave them my debit card details obviously. I later decided to change my order, which involves you having to press "checkout" again. Weird I know. I then had to enter my bank password again (it remembered my card details). Is this normal? I'm worried they charged me twice!

Yes, this is normal. When you go in to amend I think it prompts you to warn that you will need to check out again. You will only be charged once for what ever is picked for you delivery. Never had a problem with Sainsburys groceries online, used for a good couple of years.Boots Card - £17.53, Nectar Points - £15.06 - *Saving for Chrimbo*2015 Savings Fund - £2575.000

A lot of online services have an inbuilt system where after entering your bank details you get a pop-up screen from your bank where you're required to enter your banking password. It's just another level of security.0 -
Oh, yeah, I've had that occasionally. Really annoying as it's always so long between times, I never remember the password!
Glad Tesco don't use that.0 -

Glad to hear you've never had a problem, they have a rating of 3/10 on some review sites and I was worried0 -
It's been a while since I had a Tesco home delivery, but they didn't used to have that. Guess they brought it in after I last used them.0

When submitting or amending an order I am asked for my Sainsbury password again. The final step is to go to my bank to request authorisation a screen pops up but I have never been asked for a password.
Other supermarkets I have used have not asked for re-entry of the supermarket password but they do go through the same procedure with the bank.
VerifyByVISA used to ask for a password but now may or may not ask a security question instead. The bank decides by the size and types of transactions whether this is necessary.
I have not registered for Mastercard SecureCode but I assume that it works in a similar way.0
