student finance over payment

Hi,

Just received letter from student finance stating during the final year of my degree I was overpaid by £522.00. I just rang them up and they claim the over payment was due to the fact I was entitled to a grant in years 1 and 2 due to being a parent under the age of 25... in year 3 they paid me this grant and I was 26 so I now need to re pay it?

I am not in a position to do this so I called them and they admitted error but state I still have to re pay.

I was not aware of this age cap as the grant was a parent learning allowance/ adult dependent grant. Do I have to repay or is there something I can do????

Thanks in advance
