Hi all watching lawn bowls from the commonwealth games. can anyone tell me why they use different colour balls today some were black some were red and some were blue also seen yellow ones.

They do not perform differently, but they allow you to more easily keep track of which are your (or your fellow team mate's) bowls, especially if you are playing rinks (2 x 4 man teams) or triples when there are a lot of bowls in the head.

Thanks it was just strange they would use black balls with the colour dot on them. then they would throw a couple of red ball just got me a bit confused (not hard).
