Try it and find out.
I am unsure how much further comment you are likely to get from some very specific questions. These are backed up by a done 5 mortgages before, who needs a broker kind of attitude which I imagine will be viewed emotionally by many that could offer words of wisdom like I.
For example, I assume affordability is tight and on another thread someone suggested if your credit card is not on the credit file you can use this to your advantage.
This will be error number 1.I am a Mortgage Broker

As mentioned previously I have arranged mortgages before without using a broker without a problem.
amnblog's message read to me like specifically going direct to VM is a problem, that's why I asked why.
On my other thread I never mentioned not disclosing certain credit agreements, just asking how the system works. You are assuming I will for some reason as you are assuming affordability is tight.
No offence to brokers was meant as I know they can be useful to use. I'm only trying to get more info on using VM direct, any would be much appreciated.0 -
My first case to virgin has hit a brick wall this morning.
The valuation came back with issues... despite discussing every one of the issues with my BDM before submitting. I have had to get him involved with trying to get the decision overturned or the clients money back for the valuation/booking fee.
This is one of the benefits of having a broker, when something like this happens you have someone to help fight your corner. I was all but ready to submit case number 2 to VM as everything had gone smoothly so far but now im holding off.
On a side note, the valuation came back yesterday. I was told it would be 5 days before it would be assessed but my BDM was able to help get the answer on the val today saving us 4 working days.
Im not banging the broker drum, it makes no odds to me if you go direct or not. But applying direct has a different process to what the brokers have so your going to get limited responses I think and it will just be the odd response you get rather than the experience of a broker who has submitted multiple cases to the same lenders.
There is a similar thread on Woolwich, I could answer questions all day on that as I have used them more than 5 times in the last 2 months alone. We get to know the quirks/processes etc and understand when we get told 48 hours it will only be 48 hours if we harass the underwriter otherwise it will be double that - just as an example.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Yes, it does take some of the stress and time away using a broker I agree. Our last mortgage with Natwest, I must have spoken to the underwriters twice a day for about a week!
Thanks for info.0
