Letter from MK Rapid recoveries

Hi,

I received a letter from MK rapid recoveries about a debt from a 3 years ago with a credt card company. I thought it was paid off, I now live abroad. They want me to get in touch to pay it off.

However, they tracked me down to a different address I used to live at and that I am just visiting. They have no confirmation I live at the address either.

They have threatened a CCJ.

I want to pay it back and I want to call them but I'm worried I'll be at their mercy. I can only pay back a small amount each month.

Any advice?

If you feel you must communicate with them, write to them (do not call) and request proof of the debt, and that it is yours.

It might not be. Don't offer any kind of payment until you have proof that you actually owe them money.

As above. Make sure they have your current address in the unlikely event they serve court papers.
