Soggy strawberries ?

Wondered what people do when their strawberries are past their best ? The only thing I know to do with them is to cook them down with a bit of sugar and then put over ice cream.

But, I'm on a diet at the moment so - no ice cream !!

Does anyone-else have any ideas? Cheers.

Raspberries make a lovely sauce to go over strawberries, so I'm guessing strawberries would make a good sauce to go with raspberries?

Or you could mix them with natural yogurt.

I think they would also work well on scones with cream - but the diet might put an end to that idea.

Slice a banana into a blender or food processor and add the strawberries. Whizz until smooth. With the blades whirring, pour in juice or water to make the consistency you like.

We make smoothies with a couple of ripe bananas, some natural yogurt and a good glug of orange juice - at least 2 of your 5-a-day in one helping for 2 people :)

    Smoothies gets my vote.
I usually freeze the strawberries before blending them in if they are a bit on the soft side.

I too would use them in a smoothie, or whooshed up (techy term ):) in some low-fat basic yoghurt (45p a large pot in Mr T)
Or if I was feeling benevolent I smash them all up and mix in plain basic vanilla ice cream for cornets for the kids . My DGS love clapped out strawbobs whipped into cheapo ice cream from icelands.Saves a fortune in the summer holidays:):)
