Facebook Comps Announcing Winners

I mainly comp and surf using my laptop which is Windows 8. I also have an Ipad and noticed the other day whilst looking at Facebook on the Ipad there is an "activity" link. Cannot see this link on Windows Facebook page.

Anyway, looking at my "Activity" I was astonished at how many comps I had entered where it required just a comment on a post. Looking back on some of these posts (likes of Carphone Warehouse, Santander, Fragrance Direct, Marks and Spencer plus loads more) there are many that I cannot see any winner being announced. Maybe they have but they are lost in the thousands of the comments.

Added to the fact that a company replying to your comment you do not always get a notification email (as has happened to me just recently on a couple of occasions) I just wonder how many fab prizes go unclaimed?

Thanks yes I do occasionally pop in there but not sure if all the comps are posted in there.

I think it was just an eye opener for me as to how many I had entered recently and how many Facebook comps are still not being run properly from major companies by the way of an app.

There is no longer any requirement to use an app and even when one is used that doesn't change how they choose to announce a winner.

If there's no app then you need to go back to the page on the day they announce the winners (usually mentioned on the post or in the Ts and Cs) - very unlikely you will be tagged and therefore receive a notification. They usually withdraw if you do not contact them after a specific time. FB wins are easily overlooked - hence the FB winners thread on here - but you are right you cannot assume that all comps you enter someone that else will check for you and post on here.


Some people use social searcher /social mention and google to see if they are a winner a few times a week. Depends what your name is - it never works for me as there is a famous book with my name near the authors so it just pulls up posts about that!

Just to add - when you saying not being run properly - they run comps to get you interested and to increase traffic - the fact that you have to check back is in their interests and I think understandable since they are giving something away for free! It's not that unreasonable really when you think about it

Thanks, yes I knew about Social Searcher but since they changed it I cannot fathom out how to use it beyond searching for the past few days. Also, my name is not really that unique so brings up lots of stuff not belonging to me.

I understand about having to go back and check (which is what I tried the other night) but there are literally thousands and I mean thousands of comments in some of these posts so trying to find a post amongst that with the winner notification is quite a task.
