Light Bulbs

Don't know if anyone has noticed or if it is across all the country but in my local Morrisons store (Walsall, West Midlands) they are selling Philips Energy Saver Light Bulbs at 39p. each They have 18watt and 11watt which are the equivalent to 100watt and 60watt in both bayonet fitting and screw fitting. These have a lifetime of 6 years and use 5 times less electricity than ordinary bulbs. Well worth a look at this price.

:rotfl: I know everybody should read instructions but we didnt. My Dad tried one in the living room, it faded in and out for a couple of days and then went bang in a spectacular fashion- no we didnt read the box but it does say dont use them with dimmer switches

Blimey, and I thought the same ones in John Lewis at 49p were a bargain! Might have to nip down Morrisions now as I only bought 6 in JL.:rotfl:0

Personally I think that before long this will become the standard price for these bulbs so there is no need to stock up. About 3 or 4 years ago I saw some GU10 halogens for £1.99 and snapped up a load as they were £6.99 in most shops. I still have most of them as they seem to last forever and now most pound shops and supermarkets sell them for a pound or less.ScoobieGirl wrote: »Blimey, and I thought the same ones in John Lewis at 49p were a bargain! Another thing with low energy bulbs is that they seem to improve the design regularly and they are getting much smaller and much more efficient so that if you stock up now you may end up with something inferior to what you will get in a year or two, remember these things can last 5 years or more and you will also have to store them all that time.
That's maybe just my way of thinking though.

Brought a couple of these a while back and they are very good bulbs, flicker free and instant start-up. I think the've been on special for a while, many stores seem to have sold out of the bayonet and only have the ES bulbs left.0 -
Our local library is giving them out free to anyone in receipt of DLA. (2 each!) My son receives DLA and we got sent 2 in the post!:starmod: I am not that savage :heartpuls But I am a Vixen :staradmin0

My apologies to rebeccaj and Dalkhirst for obviously wasting their time reading my thread on light bulbs. It would appear that I am not as savvy as they are because I do not understand the search system. I just thought I
might help someone to save a bit of cash. Sorry to have bothered you both.
