Sig update after SW meeting. Another 2.5lb off this week. Seriously chuffed! 1lb away from 3st certiificate :)

House is a disaster. Leaking shower and damage to ceiling below mean I now need to find money for a plumber and a plasterer pdq :(
    Ebaying my life.

Another financial blow on top...dentist today revealed I need a filling replaced. £50.50 to find to cover that

I need to find that corner and turn it sharpish!

    Thank you Magiecon :)

I'm determined to get the 3st certificate and sticker next Wednesday!

I made SW mushy pea curry last night. I know it sounds foul but it was genuinely nice. DS4 asked for seconds (amazing!) and dd1 has asked when I'll be making it again as she loved it. Added bonus is that the 3 main ingredients (mushy peas, baked beans and chopped toms) were all yellow stickered items and the meal came out at 20p per portion :j

Winner, winner, mushy pea dinner :rotfl:

  • Mushy pea curry sounds a bit random. I hope it includes lots of mint sauce!! I have everything crossed for y getting the 3st certificate

No mint sauce, just the listed ingredients plus curry powder to taste, heat together, blend a little then serve with rice (or jacket spud as I did for lunch yesterday). Quick and easy.

Another sig update. Santander cc now down by £322. Extra payments to this will slow up this month as I've got a big joint cc to put to (utility refit) and I need to top up our wedding anniversary spa day (Amazon deal) as we now have to go on a weekend as dh can't take a day off.

Good news (ish!) we do not need to call a plumber. After blasting water at various parts of the shower I've found the source of the leak... And it isn't the expensive drain!! The corner joint grout in the tiles has given up the ghost and needs replacing. I've dug the rest out this morning and taken toothbrush and bleach to the corner to kill off the mould I found lurking beneath. That has been wiped down with a damp cloth and once I'm sure it's dry I'll fill in with new grout, let that dry then put sealant over the top to be sure it's water tight. I'm feeling quite the little DIYer (dh is rubbish!).

Ceiling in utility below does need fixing though. Dd2s bfs uncle is going to pull it down, re-board and skim over for £170. The only issue is time as the refit starts on the 27th of this month and he's fully booked. Fingers crossed that he can fit us in please!

Grocery bill is creeping up. Recent addition was covered by a mystery shop but I've added the amount anyway as I want to keep track of total cost regardless of payment method.

Diet going OK. Just wish dd1 wouldn't bake every Saturday.
I can't stop at just one chocolate drop bun :rotfl:
I am back in my smallest sized jeans though (which aren't small by any means!) and I'm running out of clothes that fit. May have to trawl eBay if I keep up with the diet. Would love to hit M&S when I drop another dress size. There are some lovely styles and colours in this season. But... I won't put the debt payoff at risk. I can look, but I must not buy!

Why is it that when I have money (I vaguely remember those days!) there is nothing I like in the shops, but when I'm brassic I can find loads of gorgeous outfits?

Thanks CCL :). Looking at your sig, you've sliced through an amazing percentage of debt.

I still feel like it's two steps forward and one step back because we're still cutting into the extra from our remortgage every month. Only now I'm aware of the potential future damage so I'm able to track it and slow it down. What I need is to stop the overspend all together. On paper we'll be £195 over this month even without the plasterer costs. I've got a few mystery shops lined up and have started listing items on eBay, but not enough to make £370 :(

    I daren't think about Christmas and ds1s 21st.

  • It maybe feels that way but you are tracking and are aware of what's happening and that is great :) Otherwise you could be digging a bigger hole and getting into a worse position. We can't live without spending and it's all about prioritising and living a life we can afford.

Now I just need to take my own advice lol

You are quite right. Without maintaining my accountability through this thread and the advice of other dfwers I'd have reached overdraft by now and be living on credit cards. As it is, I've still got a safety net, even if it is reducing each month. Fingers crossed I'll make some more steps forward once the Christmas hump is over.

I could still do with a stronger wattage on my lightbulb moment though!
