Credit checking....HELP!!!!

I have several debts which go back between 5 and 7 years, and understand that after 6 years they are written off.
I have now started a new relationship, and need to know how I can do a credit check to see if all the debts have been written off, helping me to make a new start.
The problem is that when I try to register with Experian etc. they are asking for my current address, and banking details.
I obviously don't want to let anyone know where I live now, as I couldn't possibly pay the old debts off.
Does anyone know a way around this, so that I can see if my sheet is clean?
Cheers
Dave

There is no way around this. In order to have your credit report they have to make sure that it is you that is requesting it. Hence sending it to your current address.0

i agree with the above, in order to send out your credit report to the right person you need to update yoru details. If that then means the reditors you owe to know your current address i am sorry but thats the way it works. If you are hiding from them then you will never find out who/the amount your owe/owed. When you signed the credit agreement/s you agreed to pay back the money they lent you... sadly untill your relise that you need to pay this back to clear your credit report i dont think many here can help.0

Thanks for that, but am I right in thinking that if all the debts are 6 years or more since they defaulted, these will be deleted from my record, and therefore a credit check would reveal no problems?
Thanks

If you still owe money to the companies no i dont think they wouldnt have fallen off... however after 6 years and you havent contact the company or they havent contacted you then they may be satus barred, however you need to deal with that using letters to your creditors... The defults/ccj's yes if they are over 6 years old they should no longer be sat on your report... however you need to get your credit report to view this :rolleyes:0 -
If I did a credit check, would that Company forward my contact details to the Debtors?
Surely this is illegal..data protection..etc.0 -

Its not about the company you do the check with, i dont think, any creditor you are in debt with can search your credit report at any time (i am not totally sure but i think thats how it works). Thus any thing changing in it... address, adding to the electoral roll will spark a change. However if you debts are so old and in status barred state they cant chase you for what you owe anyway
if i was in your position i would just check my credit report anyway... 0 -

Can't or won't?
I guarantee that there is a way to settle your debts one way or another. It depends on whether you want to or nor!0
