I need a few...

... words of encouragement if you guys don't mind :)

I've been comping for about 5 weeks now and am yet to have my first win. I could really do with one soon to cheer me up as due to some unfortunate circumstances I now find myself having to get somewhere else to live and the hunt isn't going so well due to my tight budget. Trying to keep my chin up as much as I can of course but it's just been a bit stressful.

Here's hoping for a win soon!

    Hi Michaelou,

I'm sorry to hear about your home searching. You never know the right place could just be round the corner.

My first win did not come until 6 months, other people have a win in a few weeks it's just pot luck

So keep entering the comps forget about them & I'm sure the postman will be ringing your doorbell really soon.

You never know it could be in your new home!

5 weeks is really a very short amount of time in the general scale of things, unless you're doing a lot of hours comping.
My comping is very hit and miss, I don't get round to it every day and it's maybe an hour or so when I do. I have the grand total of the win of a calender in 7 months! But it's something to do when I watch tv and although I only had 4 wins last year, they were reasonable ones.
Enjoy it, don't expect too much then it's a bonus if something does turn up.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Sax11 hahaha that made me giggle! :D

Yeah I figure it's a numbers game and am enjoying entering and all that. It's quite fun to imagine what I'd do with some of the prizes! But trying to take the advice of a lot of people on here, enter and forget. Just like I say think things are dragging me down a little and just needed cheering up. You guys are doing brilliantly hehe :)

More and more seem to be comping for what seems to be fewer prizes. Maybe worth giving up?
    thanks to all posters

Lots of comps have long end dates so you may still be a winner from the ones you have already entered.
Just do short concentrated blasts of entering and then it won't be a chore.
Best of luck with your house search, this is stressful for nearly everyone.

Having a hobby you enjoy for the sake of itself, not the wins should be what motivates you... Not this thing about winning.

Unfortunate circumstances don't bring about a need to win - they test and try us, and motivate us to work harder at the things we'd like success in. So if that's comping, comp harder. It's a numbers game.

Five weeks is no time at all. It may sound harsh, but there are far worse things that happen in this world than not getting a win after a month's comping, or trying to find somewhere to live. Perhaps you need to remember that and try to gain some perspective, which might help to manage your expectations around winning within such a short timeframe.

If you need motivation just because you're not winning, maybe there are better hobbies for you to try... Otherwise, you'll spend 99% of your time comping wondering where the win is, rather than enjoying the comping in and of itself :)
