Confusion over credit report & debts

In 2008, Northern Rock placed a charging order on our home for £21000.
Just recently, I applied for a trial credit report with Experian, having phoned to cancel the trial, they informed me, once 6 years have completed, any defaults / CO will disappear from my credit report which will be later on this year, does that mean we still owe the money, and the CCJ will still be active?
We've been on a DMP with step change since around 2007.

Hello there,
Your credit file only shows the last six year's worth of credit history. It wouldn't have any bearing on what you might owe to your creditors or under a county court judgment. There are certain circumstances where old debts become so old that they cannot be recovered through the legal system - this is generally where there have been no payments made or any written acknowledgement by you for six years (twelve for ex-secured borrowing like mortgage shortfalls). There are a few other scenarios too, but there are more rare.
We've some useful information about credit referencing which you can find here.
Very best wishes,

If I understand it right, the charging order & CCJ's will drop of my credit file after 6 years, when & if applying for credit (like re-mortgage) do I have to declare I have a CCJ / Charging order?0

If you asked the question then yes.
Remember onus is on the applicant to declare all material facts. Not to do so is paramount to fraud.
The charging order will be filed at the Land Registry so the conveyancer will made aware of the fact when the remortgage is processed. Are you considering releasing equity?0
