Chances are, this will mean signing up to paying premiums for four years, to enable the broker to earn his indemnity commission. The product may not be the best cover, nor the best price.
If you don't want to pay the fee, find another broker. Signing up to this kind of arrangement will probably see you worse off.I am a mortgage broker. Can I ask what's probably a silly question, but what does it mean when, on a broker's site, it says something like "overall cost of comparison is 5.5%"?0

Where there are mortgages being mentioned we have to give you an idea of the rate... its pointless though as its based on mortgages we have done in the past.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I've called the EA's broker just to try and get some figures of what he can offer and they're going to get back to me. Upon looking into it in more detail, it seems like it might be an independent thing just based within the EA as pinkteapot mentioned. Bit cautious still but will see what they have to say.0

I can understand why they are charging a higher fee if they aren't going to get much commission. Our will get £250 from us and around £2500 commission from the lender.
We thought our first broker wasn't totally linked to the estate agent as it was a different company, but it didn't make any difference. It might just have been a bad broker, but I've read lots about people having similar issues with EA brokers.0
