    You have done nothing wrong by the sound of things, you are not your colleagues boss so couldn't order them into the car

    Could you have put a note on your colleague's desk to say "I'm leaving in 2 minutes" and then if he wasn't at the car in 2 minutes time call your boss to say why you were delayed?
