Hello lovely DFWers - old timers and newbies. It's Sunday :j
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.
Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging the washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.
Today I will do the following:
- take packed food to the ski race to avoid paying for barbecue!
- not increasing my debt
- not use my car any more than is necessary
- be positive
- do storecupboard dinner when we get back home
- check online banking and update spreadsheet
I hope you are all having a good weekend xx

Hi hypno, hi all. Can't think of much today.
- get ready for going back to work tomorrow, so I can get all the work *done* - thats housework, really, so the bits that *should* sparkle *do* sparkle -done it, by 2pm.
- bit of gardening on the path.
- prepare for trading-training tomorrow, thats part of work done it, by 2.15pm.
- send off a couple of letters - done it, by 1pm.
- bit extra - checked out my credit report, did a freebie via mutualpoints or something - its a good score, thankfully, but now I need to phone them tomorrow and cancel it, so I don't get charged, the 30 days will run out by the end of next week - oops, did it when I inserted this note, by 4.15pm.
Wonder if I can do all that in the morning, to leave the afternoon free? Gonna have a try.... bye!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

I haven't posted on this thread for ages but have had a good day today and thought I would post (and try and get into the habit of posting each day):
Today I have:
Had a NSD
Haven't been out and therefore haven't used the car - so no petrol used
Made flapjacks using things I had in the cupboard - we can have them in pack ups this week
Finally sat down with OH and worked out our annual things and how much we should be putting away each month for them and now have a plan - with home and car insurance coming up just before/after Christmas I was concerned we haven't been putting money away but all looks fine and we have a plan now - and put this all into the budget spreadsheet.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000
