Halfway through and confused!

Hey everyone,

So since being declared bankrupt, I have moved home. I am unsure what to do now I am coming up to the 6 month mark.

I should say, I am on a LILA which is meant to last around 12 months.

I know that I am meant to have things assessed and I'm unsure if I am meant to contact them or if they contact me. City council know I have moved ...would OR know about my address change then?

Sorry, so confused.

Also, I have started a new job which pays around 1300 per month after tax. How much trouble am I in? i know to get a lila you must be earning no more than minimum wage but I am scared about what to do here. My rent is expensive and I need to eat!

Any information would be great thanks.

First thing you do is contact your trustee with your change of address and ask to provide a new SoA. Next get in touch with the company who advised you about doing a LILA and talk to them about your circumstances.

    Hi jestergirl

'LILA' is just one of the ways that you can go bankrupt in Scotland. As long as you can tick all the LILA boxes when you apply for bankruptcy, then you haven't done anything wrong, and you don't need to worry about that.

If things change after you go bankrupt, then you should let your trustee know as soon as possible. That includes things like changing your address and getting a job.

So, if you haven't already let them know, you should get in touch with them as soon as you can (if you went bankrupt under LILA, your 'trustee' will probably be the Accountant in Bankruptcy - the Scottish version of the OR/Insolvency Service).

You will need to fill in an SoA - Statement of Affairs. That's basically a list of how much money you have coming in each month, and how much you spend on the necessities like rent, council tax, food and so on.

You would be sent an SoA form at the six-month mark anyway, so it might be better to tell AiB about your new address now, rather than have the form get sent back to them saying 'addressee gone away'!

If you've got any questions about SoAs, there are lots of people on here who can give you advice about filling it in.

Coolcait, you are a lifeline! I have been so confused and couldn't find anything else online.

This is what I will do. Silly me thought because city council knew about my address change that OR would do too.

I shall get on this immediately!!!

    Thank you so much x
