Starting a Pension when not working questions

Hello..
Where do i start?
I had a teaching job and a pension fund so thought this was all sorted but 5 years ago I became chronially disabled and unable to work, it is unclear if I will ever be able to work again, I hope so but have to plan incase i can't.
I receive an ill health pension of £250 a month currently and this will continue until I die (or get well enough for a new job). Money is limited at the moment, I do get contributions ESA/DLA but can't live as cheaply as i'd like due to health. So I don't have a great deal of money I can save but do think i should be doing something.
So now I am left wondering what to do? I hope the state pension will still exist when i get there (I am 35) but do feel I need to plan something?
Can I start a small private pension even though I don't work? Where do i find information, I tried google and was overwhelemd.
My husband is a little older than me, is also poorly but still works from home and has no pension either (not ideal), we pay NI stamps for him for a state pension.
I keep trying to think of ways so we can support ourselves as we get older. Luckily we own our home so can use it for 'care' bills for whoever needs it.
I don't know where to start with finding inforamtions.
Thanks for any pointers

As a non-earner, you can contribute up to £3,600 (£2800 net) into a personal pension.
Your husband is earning so can contribute up to 100% of his earned income to a pension each year.

if you are claiming benefits, that will give you a full basic SP.
If you want to pay into a pension, as above you pay in 2880 per year and it gets maid up to 3600 with TR
Your husband can out in the same, or more up to his total income.
In addition, you both have an Isa allowance of 15K0 -
Thank you
I shall have a read of those links..0
