I have posted elsewhere but just need to know if a company buys your debt from another company can they add charges?
(This company actually operates from the same address of the business they bought my debt from)!
Surely this can't be right they probably passed the debt from one desk to another.

Its probably the creditors own "inhouse DCA" , which company are we talking about ?
An original creditor can add "charges", but when its sold on, usually the charges and interest are stopped.
DCA`s don't as a rule add any more to the balance.
It wont of been sold, it appears your debt is still with inhouse collections.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. They can only add charges that are allowed for in whatever agreement or contract you had with the original creditor, and they can only add charges that represent actual and neccessary costs.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
