Dear
It has been more than 3 years that I did
Not have or hear any news from that debt
Company now they are asking me to pay
For a debt there is 4 years ago .
I know by law there is a letter I could write
To them (Debtors ) to tell them that I can
No longer be asked to honor this debt I had
Not hear 4 years ago? By law there is
A time limit?
Could you give a sample of this letter
by law please?
Once Martin provided the copy of that
Letter to cancell that debt agency ?

Debt becomes statute barred after 6 years if not acknowledged. Think you need to pay this one back.

The time limit is 6 years unfortunately, not 3 or 4 years.

They can still take you to court if you don't pay.

Assuming you are in the UK and not in Scotland then a creditor can take court action for up to 6years from when you last paid the debt or last wrote to acknowledge that you owed the money (whichever is the most recent).

So yes they can ask you to pay and yes assuming they can prove the debt exists then they can commence court action to recover the debt.

If you want to respond to them a good starting point would be to send the prove it letter - Letter when you know nothing about about the debt - AKA "Prove it" letter

By the way, they are the creditor, you are the debtor.
