Ive been scanning the internet ads for weeks looking for a cocker spaniel x poodle pup (yes i know, its a cross breed!) Finally found one with a breeder who seems to understand the impotance of socialisation as well as health tested parents, so will be going to see a little 14 week old black !!!!! pup on Sunday!
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

Well done for doing your research. I would wonder why the breeder had a 14 week old pup though - a good breeder should have a waiting list before the litter was even conceived. It may be that a home fell through, but I would be a little wary - at 14 weeks, you've missed several weeks of the vital socialisation window that is ideal to expose a pup to a new home, new sights and sounds and so on. I would be asking plenty of questions on the socialisation the pup has had so far, and consider the long term effects if it's not had that much exposure to the outside world.

    How did today go, Raksha?
Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j

If all else fails, remember, keep calm and hug a spaniel!

There are just so many Cockapoo puppies out there at the mo, i specifically wanted a slightly older pup that had been raised around other breeds of dog, partucularly big ones as my boy can be a bit full on. I know about socialisation as i used to run Gwen Bailey Puppy School classes before i became ill.

This little girl just swaggers! Shes not daunted by Barneys clumsy attempts to say hello! She slept through the night and pees and poops on the piece of newspaper outside. I couldnt have asked for any more.

  • She sounds lovely. I have a cockapoo that I got by accident lol and he is brilliant. I always swore I would never have one of those ridiculous 'designer' dogs but now I'm besotted :T
