Noddle WARNING!

I was recommended to use a site called
noddle
The idea looks great, free access to your credit file forever (updated every 30 days).
BUT, what they are NOT telling you is that any information you submit is used to update your credit record and shared with other credit reference agencies. E.g. your current address if you provide it.
I can find no warning of this on front end of the site, they do say that that are part of CALLCREDIT and that they will bombard you with finance offers from 3rd parties unless you give up a kidney.
My credit is screwed forever so I am not that bothered but after we have debt collection companies posing as Lawyers I thought they should be upfront about this.
This is what is says hidden away in the privacy policy, an oxymoron if ever I heard one, it should be called the data share policy as it says they share with with whoever they like and you consented when you signed up.
======
We will collect information which will help us to verify your identity, such as email addresses, usernames and passwords, along with other personal information we will need in order to provide you with a copy of your credit file. This will include, for example, your name, date of birth, your residential address and postcode. This information will be checked against external databases, such as the electoral roll and your credit file, to which we have access for this purpose. We will collect and store a record of the check as well as any additional information you provide, including (but not limited to) aliases, previous addresses and financial associations. This information may be disclosed to authorised third parties through our credit referencing, fraud prevention, risk assessment and identification products.
Occasionally we may ask you to provide documentation for the purpose of verifying your identity, such as utility bills or bank statements. This information will only be requested when we need to verify your current address and we will protect the privacy of such personal information. We store such documentation securely, and it will be destroyed once verification is complete.
If false or inaccurate information is provided and fraud is identified, details will be passed to fraud prevention agencies to prevent fraud and money laundering. Law enforcement agencies may also access and use this information. We and other organisations may also access and use this information to prevent fraud and money laundering, for example when: checking details on applications for credit and credit-related or other facilities; managing credit and credit-related accounts or facilities; recovering debt; checking details on proposals and claims for all types of insurance; checking details of job applicants and employees. Please email us at contact@noddle.co.uk if you want to receive details of the relevant fraud prevention agencies. We and other organisations may access and use from other countries the information recorded by fraud prevention agencies.
Noddle uses a third party supplier (the identity of which may change from time to time at Noddle’s discretion) to help it generate your Confidence Rating Service. The third party supplier acts as a data processor in accordance with instructions from Noddle.
By requesting provision of the Confidence Rating Service, you consent to Noddle providing the third party with information that you have entered into the Noddle website, together with a copy of your credit file. The third party will process this information in accordance with instructions given by Noddle for the sole purpose of generating your Confidence Rating.
The third party will (in conjunction with third party credit providers and information provided by them) analyse key elements of your credit file, in order to determine your current financial standing. The analysis of your credit file will be used by the third party to identify and rank product offers in order of appropriateness for your circumstances (but this does not necessarily guarantee that there will be appropriate product offers available to you). You will then have the opportunity to apply for the product directly with the third party credit provider should you choose to do so.
Who do we share your personal information with?

They could save loads of paper and disk storage space by simply saying "we can do what we want, when we want, with all your data, including sharing it with anyone we choose without further reference to you". There. I think that about covers it.
Did you spot this little nugget:
... anyone who may take over the operation of the Website or who may purchase any or all of our assets, including your personal information ...
It beggars belief!
Don't sign up with Noddle.0 -
But it works for me because its free unlike Experian and they have not persuaded me to buy anything yet.0

Do you get loads of junk communications?0 -

That's no different to any of the others is it?0 -
I signed up about a year ago (around the time of entering into my DMP) and don't recall ever receiving any communications from them and even the section offering suitable credit cards, etc can be "turned off".

I like Noddle because it is free and always give 5/5 rating. Ok I know it does not mean anything but good for the good feel factor.0

Never had a problem with them, amount of spam or phone calls hasn't increased at all. They have to have that level of info to be able to identify you to confirm your record, which again is no different to the other agencies. Have you read their t's and c's as I'd be surprised if they were much different.[STRIKE]Original Mortgage 07/07 £160000 LTV 100% [/STRIKE]Remortgaged 10/13 £118000 LTV 84%
Outstanding 02/12/14 £107652.40 LTV 76%0 -
It's not as bad as it looks, you know. They're just complying with data-protection laws and being explicit about where your data can go. Not all of it is sinister.
Eg to paraphrase a couple of clauses:
If you join us, we'll check the information you give us with existing records we hold and companies that check for fraud to make sure you are who you say you are. If we find things that are different, like it appears that you've moved, we'll update our records from what you tell us. We're a credit reference agency, so any debt collection companies that you haven't told about your change of address will see your new address when they check your file with us.
Is that so bad? Really?
EDIT: It's not quite paraphrasing, but that's the effect of a few of those clauses. They sound worse than they are because they're legalese.0 -
I got the £2 report from all three CRA's but Noddle knocked me back while applying on line as they couldn't identify me, and that seemed to be the end of that.
Any work arounds?0
