No matter how bad your circumstances, please don't apply to this company for a loan. On their homepage they give an example of a loan and they're charging 177% APR. For a smaller loan I imagine the rate of interest would be even higher. You'll find yourself in a situation that's impossible to get out of and will just go on paying interest on the loan.
  • hi thanks emma but i jsut dont know what else i can do. i have a daughter and a baby on the way and moving into a new house.just cant see how we can afford things over the coming months until baby is born.

i can apply for a sure start grant when i hit 29 weeks which isnt for another month or so and til then its going to be a struggle.

dont know what else to do.

What do you actually want the money for?

There may be alternative ways of getting finance/raising the money.

  • need the money to buy a new cot for my daughter as she has broken hers plus a double pram and other things for baby and as we are moving house we need things for that too as it is desperate need of decorating.

have tried to think of other ways to raise the money like a car boot but i have no car to drive down to my nearest onwe with all the things i dont need. also thought of ebay too but i cant sell on there as i dont have a credit/debit card.

you can buy the stuff you need with the sure start money. you dont need brand new gear, look on ebay, try freecycle, your local paper. you can make £500 stretch. just please dont use provident or any other loan company.

decorating, wilkinsons sell paint on the cheap.

Try Freecycle. Or any of the charity shops/second-hand shops in your area. Babies don't NEED 'new' cots, prams, all those things.

My granddaughter recently moved into a council flat of her own and she got a bed, mattress and duvet all on Freecycle, all nearly-new.

Please, please, DO NOT go down the Provident route!!

Just to echo what everyone else has said, please don't go down the Provident road. I borrowed some money from them when I was desperate and wish I hadn't because the interest rate was terrible.

I won't slag them off though because they are there for a reason, that reason being that people with often genuine reasons for getting into debt cannot borrow money from mainstream lenders.

Back to the baby equipment, another good site is www.gumtree.com and then click on your local one. I have young twins and got a set of bunk beds from the site absolutely free, I've also got a microwave for free, an office chair for £6 and on Tuesday, I'm collecting a portable TV for nothing....

Good luck anyway but steer clear of PPC.

OP, pay attention to other posters suggestions. You don't need new, lots of pre-loved stuff out there if you look for it. Ask at the local mum and toddler group.
Unless you're moving out of furnished accommodation you will have everything you need for the time being, and you most certainly don't need to borrow money to decorate. Wait and save up and do what you want to do when you've saved the money to do it.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
