I have applied and been accepted onto a waiting list with Chevin Housing, they have sent me a declaration to sign for them to apply to my landlord for a reference and to the courts if need to check anything.
I was br August 2012 and discharged a year later, same landlord for 6 years.
I thought about sending bank statements showing payments and a reference from my employee.
I was going to ask them to delay writing to landlord as still got a 2 year lease, which will fit in with the waiting list. I do not want to rock the boat regarding my current home.
I ask on here because this forum has given me great advice.
But will post on renting board if needed,
thanks all xx

laptop being silly title should be housing association...tried to edit
  • I know it's not much help but depends really on the receiver dealing with your case, I went bankrupt over 7yrs ago in a housing association property moved while BR to a better place they didnt have an issue..

BUT the way waiting lists are going for housing you'll probably be discharged long before that

thanks for your reply..I was discharged a year ago and the waiting list is 2 years for the property, I will be retiring and moving back to my home town.
I would be happy to explain the circumstances of my br which was down to an ex leaving me in debt, but the question was not asked, they seem more interested in my being a good tenant which I am.
    fingers crossed xx

If its a HA it shouldn't be a problem. They will want to do an affordability check to ensure you have enough income to pay the rent but your BR should not be a barrier at all. Like many landlords they want to know you are not going to trash the property, upset the neighbours and will pay your rent regularly. This is where a good reference always comes in useful.
