I have my driving test next Friday (eek!)
My monthly season ticket expires today and I would buy a new one on Monday.
I have a few options but I'm not sure what to do:
1) Buy the monthly ticket as normal (£263.50), pass my test and get a refund (anyone sure about how they would calculate this?)
2)Buy the monthly ticket and stay with that until it expires and start driving from next month.
My insurance top up is either £116 or £160 (phone quote, couldn't understand man) but that is probably coming from money owed by friends which I should get next week.
Obviously if I don't pass there's no worries!
Any ideas what I should do?

Buy your season ticket, and save driving for journeys that cannot be done by train.
And good luck with the test.0 -
Thanks, Voyager.
Well I have my car and everything already and the whole point of me passing my test is to drive to work as it takes me 4 hours to get there and back and in a car it only takes 1.5.Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

Buy a weekly season ticket on Monday and review the situation on Friday.0

OK, you've had two suggestions... and you don't like either of them.
You decide.0 -

You decide.
I wasn't saying I don't like them, I was merely making a statement about why they're unsuitable for me.
I'm guessing nobody can have an opinion on here nowadays. Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

A - pull a sickie until after your test
B - buy the weekly ticket, if you pass your test you will not care about the £3.25 extra it works out to be.
C - If test passed on Friday ask for the money instead of cards, to the value of £3.25.0 -
I'm liking the weekly idea. Thanks guysOur Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

Check out the refunds bit on national rail:

If you cancel after a week, you won't be that much out of pocket. It's when you get to a week left on your monthly and you'll get nothing back.
Good luck with your driving test0 -

we are only talking about a £13 difference here for the full month, even less is the OP uses part of the monthly ticket. She will use atleast a week, so the difference is down to less than £10.
Without even looking into the refund conditions, it's hardly worth a post on here, never mind applying for and waiting for a refund, even if the OP got a full refund...which I very highly doubt.0
