Avoiding car insurance 'admin charges'

Options
Hi all,

My car insurance is due for renewal next week and we're getting a new car at the start of September. My question is, does anyone know of a company that won't screw me over when I come to change the car details? Cost me about £50 to move half a mile down the road last year... :(

Thanks!
Soo x

Companies that charge more in the 1st place may have lower admin fees or
    no admin fee at all.

But do you want to pay a premium for the policy or pay admin fees?

Best option is change the car on teh day teh insurance expires and have no admin fee. Life rarely works like that though.

So you are willing to pay a lot more now to save a little on admin fees?

Do you even know if the same insurer is going to be competitive on your new car -v- your old one?

I was lucky this year as I know a mid year change will be coming and as it happens Aviva (direct) came up by far the cheapest on both pre and post change and "only" charge £18 for over the phone changes and nothing for self service changes on the net.

Of cause is they are £200 more expensive to start off with the avoidance of a £50 fee is pointless

I'm pretty sure Churchill don't charge for amendments to their house insurance policies so perhaps their car insurance would be the same. May be worth a call to check.

They do charge for cancellation of the policy.
