Money Saving Books

Hi,
I am wondering if people could recommend some good money saving books to me.
I saw a book of money saving tips today in Waterstones for 30 euro. I decided at the time to have a look on Amazon for it, as it might be a bit cheaper. The problem is I got home and couldn't remember the title!
I have (of course!) read Martin's two books, and a couple of others.
Has anyone read any moneysaving books (apart from Martin's) that they've found to be really useful?
Thanks,
Tamara

IMO a lot of these are just regurgitated from other publications and really not worth the money. There are loads of websites which are free which probably have much the same info but if you really want to read the book is there any chance you could request it from your library? I don't know how the library system works in Ireland but I know we can do this over here.Mortgage OP 2026 £640/2000Mortgage balance: £32,222

Yeah, you can request books from the library here but there's a charge for doing so (about 80p, which varies depending on the library).
I haven't been to my local library in a while (I often don't get the chance because they're only open working hours). However, I might check it out the next time I'm nearby.0 -
Alvin Hall books are good and The Tightwad Gazette is about living frugally, it is very american so you can't use all the tips, but I find it very inspiring as they are really over the top about money saving
Some others i've seen recommended on here are
rich dad, poor dad Robert T. Kiyosaki
The millionaire next door Thomas J. Stanley
A bit on the side-jasmine birtles (have had this its about boosting your income, my library had it)
How to get out of debt Mundis Jerrold J

I love these type of books and am avid reader. I assume you have already read Martin's book the Money Diet? If not read it immediatley

My favourite personal finance book is The Richest Man in Babylon by Clason. I cannot reccomend this enough although some people do not like the way it is written as a story.
The First Rich Dad, Poor Dad book by Kiyosaki is also very good and a eye Opener of how money works in a simple way. The rest of his books start going on more about investments and property but the 1st does give you the most important info.
Another small but good book on general money issues is The Money Secret by Parsons. An Excellent upto date book on general Debt advice.
Start there and if your interested there are a ton more and a lot of books are recommned in the back of the ones already mentioned

ooh thanks for this post - I will look out for some of these at my library - I've read quite a few now - anyone read Saving Karen? Very good and a bit of a laugh - one woman's true story of getting into debt and then getting out of it by setting up a website. Slightly unreal but good all the same about the impact of debt and also people's reactions to it.
Get out of debt and live prosperously is good too.

I have to admit I really like books like this (I read them like magazines). There's one I bought -
"The New Spend Less Revolution: 365 Tips for a Better Quality of Life While Actually Spending Less". I really enjoyed that one and have read it twice already. There's a free preview of the first chapter of it actually, on Amazon.
I also got an Irish one, which is all about debts and the tax system in Ireland but it's really 'dry'. It's got useful information but it's like a textbook to read. It's handy to look up something if you need to, but it's not something you just feel like you want to sit down and read (and feel like you're doing something constructive even when you're sitting there with a book).
I've found the same with Money magazines. The freebie one I got from the site here before was pretty good. However, I bought another (Irish) money magazine from the shops recently - "You and Your Money" (using a gift card I'd got from Pigsback) and there was nothing in it of interest to me (and it was rather boring).
The moneysaving book I saw in the shop yesterday looked very cool, it was a hardback and had loads of tips to save money on everything. I couldn't really justify the expense though, there were other more important things it could have gone on.
So what about web sites? What the good ones to go to for moneysaving info? There's here obviously, and I've looked at whatsthecost.com (?), but what else is there that stands out?
Thanks,

Glad you enjoyed that one. I work for the company who distrubutes it so if you buy it in a London bookstore you its more than likley it will help me achieve my sales targets. Cheers lol
