Simply Be are simply being idiots!

Hi!

I wrote to Simply Be the other day using a template from here to check if I had ever paid PPI with them...in fact I didn't even mention that, I just asked to see the credit agreement.

Over the last year, they've increased my limit 3 or 4 times despite me not using the credit fully...like I had £50 ish on it and they increased it to £1200. They obviously didn't do a credit check because the 'marks' from my DMP would have shown up on the check and they would know not to give me credit.

Anyway, I logged in tonight to check the balance ahead of pay day and it's now changed...my balance is still £94 ish but they've changed my credit limit to £50 so it's showing my account as being £44 overdrawn. Will they try and charge me for being overdrawn? I don't see how they could as they've imposed this out of nowhere.

The only thing I can think is that they've actually bothered to do a credit check and found out about my DMP. Still quite annoyed about it though.

If they try and charge you, complain in writing. If they refuse, go to FOS, they won't get away with doing that.

Asking for your CCA may be the issue. They may assume you did that to avoid paying, therefore they reduced your limit.

Sorry, the question was hidden away there in the third paragraph - will they charge me for being overdrawn? You would normally if you were over the credit limit but as they changed the limit and made me 'overdrawn' I'm not sure what would happen?

As I was typing this happy_bunny replied - thanks Happy, that helps!
