any advice would be good ...
Company was merged last year, applied for a new promoted job in the new company 3 months ago and was successful as were 2 others.
We were all given a choice of work locations, I chose one and 2 others chose the other location.
I have since found out that the others are on a higher pay grade than me ... The job is EXACTLY the same.
The reason for the difference is that in the absence of an overall policy for the new company my pay is linked to a competency based structure because my work location had a policy previously whereas the other location did not.
I have raised a grievance but am getting nowhere ... Any advice??

A banker is someone who lends you an umbrella when the sun is shining, and who asks for it back when it start to rain.

There is no legal right to be paid the same unless the reason for not paying the same is a protected right such as sex, gender etc.
Tupe means they only have to keep you on the same conditions as before, some companies will harmonise contracts eventually (for better and worse) and some won't.
If they're not willing to change your contract then I see little you can do.
I presume you're not in a union?Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -
Union - yes and they are assisting. I kinda knew that about the equal pay bit, looks like I may be stuffed, they're using Tupe to avoid paying me the same rate!A banker is someone who lends you an umbrella when the sun is shining, and who asks for it back when it start to rain.0

Go with the union they may encourage the employer to pay but I don't see any ability to force it through.callansdad wrote: »Union - yes and they are assisting.
