Barclays online/mobile banking post discharge

Hello!

Got my discharge coming up in seven weeks and starting to think about how - if at all - my life will change after discharge.
One of things I've missed the most since BR has been mobile and online banking.
So, for those of you who are already discharged, what did you have to do to get online and mobile reinstated? Did you have to write a letter? if so, where to? do you have a template i could kindly use? Or did you simply pop in branch? Or give them a call?
Any pointers?

Planning to apply for a vanquis around Christmas time to start rebuilding the credit file - any advice on that also appreciated.

And a random question; can the OR still access my accounts post discharge? i.e. could they write to barclays and ask for copies of my statements after discharge?

I got the print out of the IS website on my discharge date then went along to the local branch the day after AD (made an appointment a week or two before) and ..doohh...forgot printout. However, she gave me an email address and I just emailed a copy to this workflow address and asked for the marker to be removed and that was it - I downloaded the app 24 hours later and all good to go.

I would wait a couple of months and then start cleaning up (see the sticky post on this forum)your CRA files before you start applying for credit builder cards
  • one thing to bear in mind as well some barclays branches (not all) will refuse the printout TG suggests and insist on the official court cert instead which is a cost (or free if on certain benefits)

pay to ask really with branch & see what they say

  • I was told I'd need to hand in official court cert, but what I actually did was just apply for online banking online, the day of my discharge, and got it.

May be worth a try before you go down the £70 route.

  • Hi Mrs H,

I went BR 7 weeks ago and I when I went into Barclays to open a new account the advisor actually set up INternet & mobile banking for me even though I told him I was going BR
I think a lot of it is luck of the draw!!
    Good luck
