What is the best game you have ever played?

I know it's not cool to say a game from this year - but I've never enjoyed a game as much as Metal Gear Solid V - amazing from start to finish

OpenTTD (and before that, Transport Tycoon). It's the one game that's consistently been installed on every computer I've owned for the last 20 years or so.

For sheer enjoyment, story telling and replay value, nothing has ever resonated with me more than the Half Life series, and I guess indirectly on the back of it, the Portal games.

Second to that, probably the original GTA, I absolutely loved it. Third, Command & Conquer.

I really love a bunch of different genres, so it's very hard to pick out something specific.

The original Deus Ex was a masterful mix of first person action and RPG development and amazing storytelling.

Heroes of Might and Magic III was a great turn based strategy game.

Civilization II-V have all been superb examples of turn based strategy.

Then there's games like Baldurs Gate, which were amazing RPG's.

Man, how does one choose the best out of all those...


I'll go with Deus Ex.

I'd say Mario 64 for sentimental reasons, but something like GTAV would probably be the legitimate 'best' game I've ever played. A real example of gaming as art.
