Quick question about paper recycling - window envelopes
Comments
-
I've been told that envelopes with the little plastic windows aren't recyclable - does anyone know if this is correct?
These envelopes make up the bulk of my waste paper, as most other things have my name and address on which I always shred, and I understand shredded paper can't be recycled either.0 -
Yes they dont want the plastic. Although in my area they take shredded paper if tis bagged I believe.0

Our council has never said anything about window envelopes so I just chuck them in. At work (different council) I open the post then tear the window out so do recycle most of the envelope. Won't do shredded paper in our areas whether in a paper bag or not.0

I just throw the window envelopes in as well.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £16,087.170

My local council have said no envelopes with plastic windows so I just tear the plastic out. They take shredded paper.0

I tear the plastic windows out of envelopes. I just hope my council isn't one of the ones who dump everything into landsites anyway." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

I tear the plastic windows out - well, actually DH does it as he's obsessive about recyling... We shred private stuff & put it in with the rest & it's always been taken so far....0
-
I put my shredded stuff into empty cereal boxes before putting in bin, nothing has ever been said in my area about the plastic windows, I will have to make enquiries.0
-
My local council takes envelopes with windows - not sure if they get good prices for recycled paper though.
zebra you need to try a search on your council: try '[mycouncil] envelope paper recycle'.
Unfortunataly councils differ in terms of what they can recycle.0 -
Thanks for the replies - certainly seems to be a difference between councils.
I checked on our council's website and they don't take either envelopes or shredded paper!0
