Santander mortgage processing time?

Hi all,
Does anyone have any idea of the current processing time for applications for additional borrowings with Santander?
I started the ball rolling in May, to date the application has made it to the underwriter, but its still pending underwriter decision.
I'm applying directly with the bank as apposed to going trough a broker, if that makes a different.
As far as I can tell, the application process is incredibly drawn out with a number unnecessary and redundant steps, poor communication, and an unacceptable processing times between submitting documents and handling / processing them! I could rant about it for hours! (don't worry I wont
