You will probably find that if your "Friend" was injured on duty

Knowing a number of ex-policemen on injury pensions, I am surprised the inverted commas go around "friend" rather than "injured" :)
  • It's actually my grandfather-in-law, certainly not me. Not sure why I said friend really...thought the tax man could be watching on here! Anyway, hopefully it's taken at source. Not really my place to look into it or ask too many questions but my wife mentioned in passing the other day that her granddad didn't pay any tax and her dad didn't know why so thought I'd look into it a bit. Obviously don't want him to be hit with some massive tax bill in his 80s!

Indeed. Many moons ago I used to actually do police ill health/injury pensions at the Met. We had a team of four.

For those who retired 'normally' or just left, there was a team of two. Go figure as the sceptics say.

Why did he think "systolic" ?

My Friend who was injured was a Police Officer. He went on his own to the call of a male causing trouble when he arrived the said male set about him with knife, not content with stabbing him multiple times when he dropped to the floor the male jumped up and down on his head.he ended up for months in a neurology ward.Yes he was injured and very much still is. I don`t begrudge him as single penny. When someone is coming through your patio doors at 3am. high as a kite on crack cocaine what are you going to do to protect you and your family? a mad dash to the telephone no doubt. Thank god their are Police (And Firemen) that will come unarmed and protect me and my family. Thank the government for looking after those officers if as a consequence they lose there earning capacity.
  • PS if you think your police "Friends" have committed fraud that is a criminal offence report them.

So effectively you are saying most Police Officers retired fraudulently and you were party to this or were you only doing as you were told. Why did you not speak out about it.Maybe you should report it now or go to the papers. Being involved in something like that would give me sleepless nights.

You're new so I'll follow the board guidelines.

All the retirements I handled were signed off by the force medical department. Whether I thought some of them were lead swingers or not is therefore irrelevant. I believe the medical retirement procedure has been tightened up somewhat since I worked there though.

If you continue to be aggressive or make any insinuations you will notice there is a report button. Just pointing this out for the benefit of someone new.

And another thing. I have at least 3 friends (that I know of) plus one brother in law who are in the job. I don't begrudge them the benefits of the police pension scheme in the slightest.

I have worn the Queen's (green) uniform, but at least she gave me a sidearm to go with it, I wouldn't like to wear the blue with all the **** they have to put up with.

I was nice to a newbie. As per regs. But people who jump in as a newbie & post "such things" get on my thungas.

I know, I was there, as I made clear*. But the internet is a marvellous tool for self expression, is it not ?

    * I could make it clearer but I've had another scintillating day putting right what underpaid administrators have f ed up & I can't be arrised.
