Lidl - pretty poor in the evening

My store is usually well stocked. We always go shopping in the evening if it's a weekday and never have problems with fruit and veg running out.
It's probably down to how the individual store managers run their stores.0 -
We went to Lidl in Reading at about 2.30pm on Saturday and it was terrible. Fruit and Veg was fine but the rest of the shelves were empty. The bakery was sold out and looked like no more bread was being baked. The fridges and shelves were very low and there was probably 2 or 3 staff members only.
I won't be going back at that time again. As in general they are value for money, we kind of accept these disappointing trips and work around them.0 -
Lidl run on limited daily stock. They get deliveries daily, so the fruit and veg is fresh. Due to this, staff are usually in 2 hours before the store opens so they can set up before the store opens. They have a policy in regard to fruit and veg which states that if the staff won't buy it, then they don't sell it, however, some staff either ignore this policy or will happily buy half rotten food. I'm not sure. They do run on minimal staff to keep cost downs but staff aren't restricted to their hours at all. They do 20 hours minimum and then usually another 10 as overtime on top. However they will ask some members of staff to do extra shifts within the week if needed.
My mum works in Lidl at the moment, so I have been learning a lot about how they work. You'd think I work there after everything in this post.Money saved in 2018: £18.78 in jar, £250 added to savings. Total: £268.780 -
I don't think this is limited to Lidl.
My local Walsall Asda which is a superstore is rubbish on weekdays after about 5.00pm.
I'm fed up of going in at 5.30pm on a Thursday to find no tomatoes, cucumbers, spinach, ginger, chillie, garlic (this was last nights experience).
The funny thing is they never seem to run out of the over priced, over packaged veg / salad, such as tomatoes, over priced Birds Eyes chillies which equate to £13 per kilo!!!!
Also if you go in at 8.30am it's like an obstacle course around all the pallets and re-stocking!
My local Morrisons has had a makeover and the veg is lovely and well stocked so I'm going to try them for a few weeks now.
I'm very pleased with this as I hate this Asda with a passion, always over charging and then I have to stand there arguing for my £2 gift card!!!! I always get it though!!!0
