Starting a DMP - advice needed

Hi guys - just sent off the paperwork for my DMP today - £86K. Think I'm going to have a rocky road for a while. My question to you guys is, 1 of my creditors is Barclaycard - and possibly wrongly I have opened a Barclays cash card account as my new basic bank a/c. Didnt think about the connection - do you think i should change to another bank??

Welcome, this is a great place for information, advice and support. A lot of people will say you should bank elsewhere from your debts, however stepchange told us that Barclays have agreed not to offset debt against your current account balances. We have done the same as you, we opened a basic account with Barclays as well as having debt with Barclaycard and a Barclays overdraft (which is now with the recoveries team and seperate to our basic account).
I must say they have been great with us
Good luck, it's a rocky road but it does get better as things settle down
