Equifax Screwing around with my Credit Report

My credit report on Equifax seems to be suffering! For the last 3 weeks, my credit score has been moving up and down (moving between ‘Fair’ and ‘Excellent’), I refresh every day to check movement.

The actual credit report has had nothing changed on it. All payments are up to date, no new credit applications etc. I have asked Equifax multiple times and they are giving me woolly answers and keep relating it to the general population's borrowing habbits and how ‘something’ on my credit report might have changed but fail to give me any specifics at all when I have asked them very clearly several times.

Also I refuse to acknolwege how in the space of under 1 month the borrowing habbits of a whole population can change so significantly.

Would anyone be able to tell me what I can do in terms of escalation?

I have complained but again got woolly answers. It would seem to me that the customer support don’t really understand how the system works and are briefed to give as generic responses as possible without really looking into any details at all.

I wouldn't worry about it. Nobody sees the equifax rating/score that they give you except you and them.

Potential lenders only see the raw data on the report - and if that is all accurate and nothing has changed on that then there is no issues.

I don't think there is much you can do to escalate it, I suppose you could write to them with a written complaint for an explanation but it will probably be very similar to what you have been told on the phone, but most people on here would just advise you to cancel the fee paying service with them.

I would disagree because whenevr my score has been low (with no changes in my credi report) I have been declied for credit and when my score has been high, it has been gone through (again with no changes to the credit report). I think the score picks up stuff on your credit report but the negative or positive movement is not explained as to 'WHY' it has moved which is the stupid part.

No potential lenders ever see the score you can buy from experian/equifaax/callcredit or obtain from noddle.

So you are not being accepted or declined on the basis of your score.

You are being accepted or declined based on a combination of information on your credit file and the other information you provide on your application.
