Background checks on mortgages

Hello guys,

First timer here - hope this is the right place to post. My partner and I are FTBers and, after the preliminary conversations we've had with brokers, it should be 'easy' to get a mortgage - thankfully.

The big problem I'm anticipating is that because I've been bouncing around a couple of houses since moving down to London last year, I've thought of it as easier to keep all details registered to my parents' address - payslips, bank statements, you name it. No bills either, because all I do is rent a room out.

Obviously I can't lie about where I'm currently staying on a mortgage application form, so what would you do in my position? I'm going to go down to the bank today and change my registered address, anything else I can do in the meantime?

Bearing in mind we haven't put a bid down on a house or have a mortgage in principle, though it's feasible that things can get rolling as soon as next week. What do you guys think, will this be a hitch?

Have you checked your credit reports? Any linked addresses?

For me this would be what appears on your bank statements in terms of transactions. I would probably be running this by an account manager and going off what they suggest.

So I would say go off what your broker suggests.

We would use your "official" address as this is the one which is shown on your documents, but also provide the accommodation addresses to enable the lender to credit search them manually, if required.
