Asking hairdresser for a homer?

I go to quite an upmarket hair salon, however £100 every 8 weeks is a little much :( I love the girl that cuts my hair, and was thinking of asking for a homer? I'm a bit weary of doing it in her place of work.

Has anybody done this and how did you go about it? Thanks ( sorry if I sound silly, I am quite shy)

A homer? If you mean a home visit, then no you should not ask unless it is offered by the salon.

Yes a home visit is what I mean. Thank you, just wanted to see what other peoples views were. Although I have never heard of a salon that offers home visits before.

    Thanks

I would presume that accepting an offer like this would be a sackable offence in a salon since it's taking work away from them. Will be interested to see if others think the same...

Yeah that is why I am weary of asking while I am in the salon, as I'd obviously hate to get her in trouble. I get on with her very well, or I wouldn't even think about asking....

Just putting it out there to see what people's thoughts are.

    Thanks :)

The stylist has chosen to work in a salon rather than have her own 'mobile' business.

She will 'get on very well' with the majority of her clients because that is part of the customer service required... it doesn't mean she is a friend or you are 'special'.

You would be putting her in an embarrassing and difficult situation by asking.

PS - It's 'wary' (hesitant) not 'weary' (tired) BTW.

My stylist is self employed she can do whatever she wants always worth asking discretely...

Apologies for my minor spelling mistake. I did not mean to imply I was 'special' or 'her friend'

    Thanks

Home visits tend to be available at a considerable premium (you're paying for travel and lost salon time) and I know of one instance where a salon has offered to visit a friend who was very unwell - she wouldn't have been able to go in herself.

You've reminded me I need to make an appt - I like hairdressers about as much as the dentist!

I think that's quite common. I know someone who owns a salon and rents out the chairs to stylists. I think it's probably some sort of tax dodge as then he doesn't have to pay any employers contributions.

I'd risk asking whether she worked full time? ever done mobile hairdressing? does she do hair for family and friends or has she had enough at the end of the day? That sort of conversation might get you the answer you want.
