Oh I never thought about checking the actual hospital website! I don't know if the distance will hurt us because it's far away but there's no harm in trying. Great idea, thanks!
I think the distance might actually work in your favour if they do run such a service. Obviously he has a clinical need to go to that particular hospital so they should be ensuring that he can actually attend the appointments.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -
Picked up two full days of work, which was fantastic for the money situation this week. I have to declare it so it might mess things up next month but it will see us over the bump for now.
Nothing new for the diary though, getting up at 4am to sort OH out and then cleaning didn't leave any time to spend anything
Good - my son's credit union membership came through so I'm going to put a very small regular amount in that just to give him a history with them in case he ever needs them. £5 a month standing order and if I can't manage that then I'll look at it again. His main savings hit £2000 this month so that feels good. Just need mine to look that healthy
Good - not a penny spent since the last entry, even got a lift to the job and back. I'm pretty good at not spending money, the problem is how to inflate the incomings most of the time. It's been a cheap summer holidays so far.
Good - this money will pay for the wheelchair loan, son & heir's enrollment fees and travel to get his results and sign up. Next payday will have to pay for his yearly bus pass but that should be manageable, just about.
Good - Seem to be picking up a bit more work lately. My hours are odd but I'm free at very short notice so it's handy for some people.
That's it! no news is good news0 -
Popped down to the red cross and picked up the wheelchair, OH didn't love it but the three of us went round the country park twice and he isn't wiped out for the week, so it looks like he'll put up with it.
Good - £9 on taxis and I made a packed lunch, so a cheap day out.
Good - have to pop round to a friend's house and see about giving her MIL a quote for clearing her garage.
Blah - Lacking in any ideas for making extra cash and feeling a bit unmotivated because of it. Stuck till payday really, then I'll know what happened with the money this month. It won't be representative though because it was an odd month, so I'll have to start again on the 23rd. All that spreadsheeting did me no good at all this month
A good fresh start on payday will be helpful. At least I didn't go into the emergency fund, although goodness knows what will happen if HMRC decide to take these earnings back straight away.0 -
Your diary is inspiring. Well done at juggling everything! No idea of your location but sure there must be people in a similar position to my daughter who is looking for a cleaner a couple of times a month. She is prepared to pay the going rate which seems to be £12 an hour.
As she is a hospital doctor and works shifts she would not mind at all when the cleaning was done apart from when she was in bed after nights.
Perhaps you could put an advert in your local hospital offering your services. Great if you lived in the Leicester area!0 -
Hey thanks for the idea! I'm miles away from anything industrial sized but there are some health centres with noticeboards. I'll have to print out some more postcards and have a think.0

Is there any chance when doing major clear ups that you would be able to get permission to sell off unwanted items? Maybe gumtree or a car boot?Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 11st 12lb determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. Thanks INOD, I'll definitely ask and split the profit if there is anything worth selling, I don't know what's in there. She's hiring a big skip so I think it's a biggish job. I'll have a look round tomorrow.
Today was all gardening and then it started raining. No money spent, no money made. Quorn burritos for lunch and pasta & salad in the fridge for dinner. We're low on quorn now so it's time for some veg versions of things which is fine because there's loads left. I really need to look at growing herbs next year, these dried ones just aren't the same.
No news is good news, again. I'm going to do some weeding of the files this evening and see what can be safely thrown out. Anything over six years and receipts for things I threw out years ago probably :rotfl:0 -
Horrible morning for money. Looked up the student bus pass pricing system and
12 months any bus - £510 - £42.50 a month
10.5 months single company - £205 - £19.52 a month
4 months single company - £100 - £25 a month
1 month single company - £45 a month
So I need £205 in cash, no direct debit available for single company tickets. This is how poor people get messed around, it's fortunate that I can scrape this together by being poor for the month but many people will be forced into the monthly ticket.
There are so many examples of bulk buying being a fantastic money saver if you have the money to begin with. Infuriating. Also everything needs photos so another set will have to be done.
Also walked round to my friend's MIL who agreed that the garage would take at least a half day to clear (a lot of taking apart req) and wanted to pay me £15 to do it.
Now, I am not scared of hard work and £15 is £15 at the moment. On the other hand nobody likes to feel ripped off and I'm trying to get word of mouth work. The sad thing is I would have done it for free no problem.
I'm regretting not doing it anyway. There need to be some boundaries but maybe I should have just done it. Now I'm going to feel bad until I make that £15.
A bit of Ebay cash went into Paypal again. It all adds up and at least I got a long walk out of the garage quote :j0 -
Just found out son & heir's equipment for college will be £53. I was trying to find out how much the cat's injection will be and last year we paid £40 all in.
Nice to see next month's money disappearing before it arrives :rotfl:
Still don't have any debt though so it's going to be okayish if nothing awful happens. Rightyo, best get answering some surveys then0 -
Hi, have you asked your son's college about financial help towards his course/equipment/buses? I know my college has funds available for people on certain benefits etc.0
