    The charges may look high but we do not know the full basis of the work from the level of information generally being discussed here.

    Yes we do.

    The waters aren't muddy, don't make them so.

    It's clear that a transfer from Final Salary to a SIPP is being proposed, for a fee of £13k.

    The justification was because the SIPP had higher returns and the high cost was justified (by the non-qualified adviser) because the fee is split between him and another firm.

    This is full of warnings. We haven't named the adviser, so why not feel free to shame this? It's clearly wrong.

    One piece of advice for one private individual should never cost £13,000. It is never acceptable and a client knowing this is even possible is damaging.

    Anyway, that's enough from me on this subject!

    And my points were based on the thread thrown up here by another poster.

    I dont think anyone here thought the advice to move the DB pension, or the 13K cost was in any way reasonable.

    And so goes the problem of bringing up other cases on the wrong thread. It muddys the water.

    That contrasts with manias comments on this thread which is why I was drawing the distinction. Much of dunstons advice is excellent but a failure to condemn another ifa in this context is in my view a failure.

    Dunstonh clearly said it was expensive which sounds like a condemnation to me.

    Anyway for me actions speak louder than words;

    You should also satisfy yourself that you (and your IFA) understand the specific USS rules that apply to members dying within 5(?) years of retirement:
