0% balance transfer

Hi,

I've had a credit card for a while now, I always paid it off IN FULL :money: every month ... then my cat broke his leg. Unfortunately I had held off on insurance because of issues with it in the past. Anyway, what's done is done and hes now insured.

His broken leg has cost me approximately £4,500 in total. From x-rays to operation, the metal plate and he had to have the metal plate removed due to it showing through his skin.

My problem is this: I now have ~£2,600 on my credit card. I'm not certain of the APR because I've always paid it off in full. I know it was a higher one at approx 18.9% APR. I still owe the veterinary practice ~£1,200 which they've accepted my payment plan I have proposed (£75 pcm)

I looked at switching my balance to another credit card, yet I got declined. I see my credit report on noddle.co.uk regularly and know that I'm hovering about the 580 mark. This is not fabulous, I know that. But they recommended a few credit cards, said my chance of getting them was good so I applied (Halifax Clarity I think?) for one. I got rejected.

I don't want to keep making applications because I know that's detrimental, I have never been in debt like this before. I have a loan and finance but it being on the CC with the APR I just feel so out of control.

Are there any ways to guarantee a 0% balance transfer, at all? Even if it's part of the debt to reduce the interest I'm incurring.

I will just about be able to make the minimum payment this month of ~£80, and I will put anything spare on there, but I was made redundant earlier this year and have had job troubles, I also fell down the stairs (only soft tissue damage) which affected a couple of weeks wages.

blfbwo;fbw, I'm just a bit lost and I want to control this debt. I have regular monthly repayments. I even got rejected for a finance option this weekend, which usually doesn't happen for me.

I thought for sure 0% balance transfer would be a massive help, but being rejected I just feel a little bit off kilter.

Any help or suggestions or am I just gonna have to continue with my current CC?

The Noddle score doesn't really mean anything. Is there any reason that you know of that might be affecting your applications (missed payments, defaults, ccjs?) Are you on the electoral roll.

Rather than keep making applications (which will in itself affect a lender's decision) you should try a pre-application eligibility checker and take a good read at this article (the pre-application eligibility checkers are in there) :

I did try that, I got 80% on one until Feb 2015, it's not long enough to pay off the balance and the APR is 34.9%

and on noddle I actually pay for the credit report monthly. so I get the noddle score and the proper one.

No missed payments, nothing negative on my file except this recent CC debt :(

electoral roll = it does say "limited time" under my credit report on noddle so that's probs not helping
