tax coding notice

Options
Hi

I've requested a copy of my tax coding notice from HMRC for a mortgage application.

It's been over a week now, how long should it take to arrive?

Is there any way I can get it quicker? (e.g. visit somewhere, call a specific number etc...?)

cheers

P2 Notice of Tax Coding are not issued upon request by anybody.

They are normally issued if your tax affairs are complicated because you have multiple sources of income.

Why do you need a P2 ? - is it as a form of official ID for your mortgage application ? or to verify your income for said application ?.

If its the first you can use a Passport/Driving Licence, if its for the second your HR department can do it.

I need it to 'prove' my identity, for a mortgage application.

Passport and/or driving license is not acceptable because I have gone through a broker that has not met me face-to-face - certified copies are also a no-no (yes I know ridiculous)

    Nothing else is acceptable unfortunately...

Did you request it by telephone?

when the button is pressed to issue it it will have to be printed, then put into a envelope .

This is done as an automatic process by a machine.

It will then drop into a box to be sent by second class mail.

When it arrives at the end of the process wii depend on how many items are in front of it to be processed.

Second class business mail is not a priority for Royal Mail and can take at least 7 days to be delivered. Some of my post has taken 12 days to be delivered.

So no one can tell you how long it will take but I would suggest up to
    three weeks

I got mine in ten days for a similar reason. That was about a month ago. A few years back, they could fax it through. Unsure if:
    -they still do it and
    - your bank will accept a faxed copy.

I would not say why I want my Coding Notice, if I were you. HMRC do not like it to be use as iproof or address or identity of any kind. They have tried to tell the bank to stop accepting the Coding Notice. You might find some HMRC staff reluctant to issue it.
    Good luck :)

A P2 can be issued if you phone up and request it.

HMRC usually say correspondence can take up to two weeks to receive so I'd expect you'd receive it soon, OP.
