How do you find competitions to enter?

Apart from the obvious answer of 'on this forum' how do you find competitions to enter? Do you use certain keyword searches or specific websites that list them?

Just wondering if many people enter just the competitions they find listed here or go on an active hunt for more as well? :)
Comping since July 2014

A lot of the ones I post up on MSE are from email newsletters, I also have a list of sites bookmarked in my browser that regularly post competitions.

Any that I find that are not on here I post up.

Entering away from MSE may lead to duplicate entries unless you are very good at record keeping or have some magic system.

Personally I recommend just sticking with one portal ie MSE & using the tracking facilities available to logged in members.

One thing I do is search Twitter for 'RT Enter'. Helps me catch up on Twitter ones I might have missed on here, plus it's quick & easy!

hi, i get email newsletters then check on here to see if they've been listed,
if not, i'll post them up,
also have lots of fave/bookmarked sites that i follow through,
along with them i search other comp sites/google/ etc,
always handy to have other sites to check as sometimes there can be varying answers/etc & have comping buddies on other sites to help out/ verify answers,

all in a days comping work along with entering them & posting them :D

  • The board keeps me pretty busy... :)

But I also regularly enter comps on Tumblr (search 'giveaway') as they often have low entry numbers so good chances, and on Goodreads.

Actually I find it more difficult deciding which ones not to post here. :rotfl:

For example, I will type #competition or #giveaway or #win on Twitter, then go searching through what comes up for comps that haven't been posted here but are still current. If it's somebody that has been posted plenty of times before then happy days :j but what if they haven't?

For example, I found TheEarlybirdUK earlier today. I checked their Twitter feed and they were announcing comp winners there, and people were responding, so probably worth posting. No T&C that I could see, had to guess the end date.

Then I found Siiren Ltd, who showed a couple of comps in their Twitter feed, including one which is current. No T&C that I could see. However, when I looked back they had a comp which involved providing a caption for a picture to win £50, they asked people to retweet it about thirty times but I couldn't actually see them ever announcing a winner.

Do I post it, or not?

As sax11 suggested, when you first come here you'll be so busy catching up that you probably won't have time to worry about things like that, anyway :p
Thanks to all who post constructively.

I have somebody called FragranceON.com following me on Twitter. They have just announced the winner of their last perfume competition, Jessica Newman. That Twitter account was a new one, set up at the same time as they announced the winner. It currently has 3 followers, one of which is FragranceON.com

So I don't think I'll be posting their comps to MSE any time soon! :rotfl:
