I've looked at getting a One or PS4 for Destiny, but then I'd need the subscription anyway, making the total cost (and it's not just a financial cost) far higher than the MSE in me is willing to pay. If the subscription would cover more than Destiny and Resogun on PS4 or Destiny and () on One, I wouldn't mind so much, but a console/console space/power/HDMI port/account management/controller(s) AND ~£30/year just to play 1-2 games and a bunch of inferior (and yet more expensive) ports?
I don't mind paying £30/year when it covers a range of good games and/or useful services, and I've paid similar costs just for individual MMOs in the past, but the extra console tax is a bit too high in this case. I have neither the time nor the inclination, and the cash itself is just the salt in the wound. Maybe in 2016.Q: What kind of discussions aren't allowed?
A: It goes without saying that this site's about MoneySaving.
Q: Why are some Board Guides sometimes unpleasant?
A: We very much hope this isn't the case. But if it is, please make sure you report this, as you would any other forum user's posts, to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.0 -

I'm not disputing your reasons for not wanting to buy an entire console just to play Destiny; in fact I'm entirely with you on that because I'll be playing it on PS3. My point is simply that stating that you need to pay £30 a year to play Destiny, whilst technically accurate, doesn't tell the full story because that £30 buys you an annual service that includes many other benefits, including a monthly rotation of free games (or rentals, if you prefer, but this isn't the time for that debate). So there's more value there than your statement would suggest. Whether that value is sufficient to warrant the outlay is, of course, down to individual choice.
For me the far bigger issue is the price of the consoles, which in my view at the moment aren't warranted for either the Xbox One or PS4 because the respective libraries just aren't strong enough. Of course the fact that I have a PS3 and Xbox 360 with PS Plus and Live subscriptions is influencing that decision in more ways than one, both when it comes to buying Destiny and buying the consoles (or not)."MIND IF I USE YOUR PHONE? Just been in to Game to pay the leftover amount after preorder cost.
Bit embarrassing, but I had a bit of a panic when I started reading preorders are being cancelled due to having limited Ghost edition stock, will be there at midnight to make sure there are no mix ups.
I don't usually buy limited editions - last one in fact was 2004, Halo 2 - but given that's my favorite game of all time, made by the same company, worth the punt in my opinion - and I will be taking care of this one.Professional Data Monkey
