Options
Hello.
I was just wondering how you can remove or disable the calculator from windows 7.
This is so my son can do his homework without cheating.
Thank you

I have an idea that's a bit radical but I'm sure it will catch on eventually, sit with him while he does his homework!
Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it

Im trying to introduce an element of independence so want him to do the homework by himself...of course if he needs help I ll be there...hence the disabling of the calculator.
I dont personally need it as I can use my phones calculator.

How hard is it? Type 3+4 into google and it pops up a calculator, written in Javascript, pre-filled with the result. So you're on a loser there. If you don't want your son using a computer while doing his homework, have him do his homework without a computer.

To answer your question and avoid the sermon the file is called calc.exe and lives in windows\system32. You could

    a. delete it or
    b. change the name to something like calc.old

I'm pretty much certain that many of the "perfect parents" who offer unsolicited advice on this board have no children.
  • If it's maths they are allowed, but must show they workings out beside the answer. If you want improve mental arithmatic - take him shopping to supermarket - getting him to add up offers, unit prices etc. Did that with my DD & she still does it when shopping on her own now. Or get him to add up a running total of items in trolley & see how close he gets.

Surely if it's maths, a calculator won't be useful. He needs to provide his workings?

Don't sit with him while he does his homework, bloody helicopter parenting beyond belief. Trust him to do it properly, and perhaps ask him to explain his answers at the end and how he worked them out :D

Nick the PC power cord and give it back when homework done.
