Best place to buy a high quality sofa? I'm looking for a sofa that is solid

Options
I have found in the past that DFS sofa's are pretty flimsy...hmmm

My sister swears by Laura Ashley whereas I prefer DFS as they have such a large range that not all are flimsy, especially in the higher price end.

DO NOTgo to Laura ashley! Dreadful customer services if anything goes wrong.
Look for natuzzi for leather sofas, mine are great after 13 yrs.
or Wade if you are loaded.

John Lewis - and if you go to a large branch, you should find most of them on display so you can try them out for comfort.

Also worth looking at Cintique's range if you have a stockist near you: http://www.cintique.co.uk/sofa.htm. Beautifully made with a 10 year guarantee, which says it all.

I have a John Lewis sofa that I bought about 25 years ago-still going strong.

Where do you live Kat? (an ish will do). Barker and Stonehouse are excellent in terms of quality and customer service.

Best sofa we ever had (and I rue the day we got rid) was from Next.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

I like Multiyork myself. They are certainly solid, we've got 2 leather ones that we got at their Bath store from the clearance dept (less than half price as they were a customers cancelled order) and a large 3 seater fabric one that we had made to measure.
Really good quality and very comfortable.

Worth ringing to see if you've got one of their stores with a clearance dept in as you can get some really good savings from there.

We have two sofas from Next - very sturdy and comfy I would definitely recommend.

I would avoid DFS my friend had real problems with them she bought a sofa based on the display model (which was solid) when her new one was delivered the sides were completely hollow and so light that her four year old daughter could lift the entire thing.
    She sent it straight back!
