Small update - Christmas planning and spend has been so much easier this year with the secret Santa in place. If you are thinking of trying this you really should it's been less stressful for so many reasons.

Friend and I have been saving £50 a month each in savings and plan to make our first overpayment in December of circa £1500.00. Just had a £74 refund from our water company so have diverted that to our overpayment fund too - unexpected bonus.

A quick post Christmas update, everyone enjoyed the secret Santa as described previously. It was really nice buying a thoughtful gift/s for one person rather than struggling to find something for everyone with the added benefit of less cash spent all round. We have agreed to do this again next year but picking names little earlier to allow for plenty of time to shop.

There is some uncertainty about both of our jobs currently so we have continued to save into our separate overpayment account, rather than overpay at this stage we are squirrelling this away until the situation is a bit clearer. We are fortunate to have a separate 6 month salary equivalent savings in place but still don't wish to tempt fate.

Feels a bit sad to have not made an actual overpayment as yet but we have continued to save throughout. On a plus, I managed to sell a couple of bits on ebay so cleared about £140.00 so was thrilled with that.

Now off to look at recipes to see if I can shave anything off the food budget........

Not much change here at the moment, there is still a likelihood of restructure/redundancy at my place of work and I expect to hear something by end of March. We are continuing to save into our 'overpayment' account in the hope that we can make an overpayment once my work is settled again. It's coming along nicely with just under £3k at present.

On a more positive note we are due to secure a new rate soon so need to start pulling out the paperwork in readiness. Be good to lock in to a nice low rate for a couple of years if we can.

Will try to update my signature at the weekend with mortgage amounts and dates to help me focus.
